A Little Bit About Myself
Let me take you on a journey through my telecommunications background and passion. It all began with a deep inspiration from my father, who played a significant role in the establishment of Radio Demerara in Guyana and Radio Jamaica. In this throwback picture, you can see me engrossed in working on a PSK modem, which could be considered a pioneering version of Jamaica's first WiFi (tcp/ip) network back in the late 80s. The fusion of technology and telecommunications captivated me and set me on a path of circuit board design and prototyping. I delved into homemade circuitry, creating Radio Frequency MODEMs that could decode signals from polar orbiting weather satellites or the Radiofacsimile transmitted on Short Wave frequencies. But my curiosity didn't stop there. I took on the challenge of experimenting with and prototyping a wireless tcp/ip network that had the remarkable capability of local and international communication through radio frequencies. This was long before the internet became a household name. Through this network, I accomplished the transmission and reception of emails and simple pictures, utilizing my limited computing hardware at the time, which consisted of a Commodore VIC 20 (M6502 1Mhz with 5Kb) and later an IBM PS/1 (80286 10Mhz with 512Kb). This captivating journey fueled my lifelong fascination with telecommunications and technology, driving me to constantly explore new possibilities and push the boundaries of innovation.
